When Life Gives You Lemons...

...make lemonade!

I'm drinking lots of lemonade right now (figuratively speaking), but not because life has been throwing me lemons. Nope. I'm gulping lemonade because life is handing me cup after cup. I feel super blessed!

Here are a few glasses of lemonade in my life:

1. I'm married to the most AMAZING man in the entire world! He brings home soup from Zupas when I'm sick, tells me how beautiful I am even if I haven't taken a shower all day, and picks me up at the train station every evening so I don't have to sit on the bus for an hour and 15 minutes after work. Plus I get hugs and kisses whenever I want them. I'm so spoiled.

2. I got promoted at work! After only 6 weeks of working as Deseret Book Company's main receptionist, I've been promoted to Product Development Assistant. This means I finally reached my dream job (outside of being a mom and a writer) of working in Publishing! And not only do I get to work in Publishing, but I work directly with manuscript submissions and evaluations and authors! As much as I enjoyed editing, I knew I could never sit and edit other people's manuscripts for the rest of my life. Instead, I get to help decide what Deseret Book publishes, and that's pretty exciting to me. And lucky me--I work with some of the best people ever!

3. I'm getting healthy again! After 5+ days of being sick with a sore throat that turned into a cold that turned into a sinus infection that almost turned into an ear infection, it's SO nice to feel healthy again. I love being able to breathe out of my nose and to move without hurting and to swallow without my throat being on fire.... I really take health for granted.

4. It's Christmas time! Most of my Christmas shopping is already done, my apartment is decorated--including lights on my deck--and I'm listening to all the Christmas music I can get! Nothing gets better than Christmas.

5. I'm writing and reading again! Sitting on the train or bus everyday has its lemonade too--reading time! And despite working full time now, I'm still finding time to write.

I'm pretty happy right now. Obviously, life isn't perfect, but I'm definitely enjoying the lemonade that I've been given.

Now for something random. Someone made an old-fashioned, British cobble-stone street out of gingerbread for this year's Festival of Trees (see http://richardandallisonmathews.blogspot.com for more details), and it even included a bookstore!

This really made my night :)
